ABOUT CITRUS

Built for music
worth keeping.

Citrus is a modern private music platform for people who want the convenience of streaming without making a subscription service the centre of their music life.

Your library first.Citrus starts with the music you chose to buy, collect, rip, record or keep - then makes that collection easier to understand, enjoy, carry, perform with and improve.
01 · WHAT CITRUS IS

One music library that can keep growing with you.

Citrus brings local music management, discovery, playback, mobile access and professional DJ tools into one connected system. At its simplest, it is a fast home for the music already on your computer or NAS. It can import existing files, rip CDs, record vinyl, organise playlists, understand artists and releases, and keep a large collection searchable without forcing it into somebody else's catalogue.

That same library can then travel. Citrus Mobile can sync selected music or stream the whole collection remotely. Citrus Pro turns the library into a preparation and performance environment for DJs. Citrus Master adds fast remixing and remastering without sending a track through a separate production workflow. The point is not to bolt unrelated products together; it is to let the same music move naturally from collection to listening, discovery, preparation and performance.

02 · WHY IT EXISTS

Music ownership never stopped making sense. The software around it did.

Streaming solved an important problem: access became effortless. But it also changed the centre of gravity. The catalogue, recommendations, playlists and convenience increasingly belong to the service rather than to the listener. Stop paying, lose a release, change country, or watch a licensing deal expire and the experience changes around you.

Meanwhile, people with their own collections were often left choosing between older library software, specialist DJ applications, a folder hierarchy, or several disconnected tools. Citrus exists because owning music should not mean accepting a worse interface, weaker discovery or less mobility. A permanent collection deserves modern software too.

Ownership should not mean giving up convenience.

Citrus is built around a simple trade: keep control of the music itself, while the software does more of the work required to make that collection feel alive.

01

The files stay meaningful.

Your collection remains a real collection of music you control, not a temporary view into a licensed catalogue.

02

Convenience belongs to the library.

Recommendations, mobile streaming, playlists and discovery should work around what you own rather than require you to replace it.

03

Professional tools should respect the same source.

A track should not need to become a different project just because you want to cue it, mix it, remix it or master it.

MOLY TECHNOLOGY

Helping Citrus understand what it is listening to.

Moly is the identity and intelligence layer behind Citrus. It is designed to recognise music quickly, make sense of imperfect files and connect the audio in a library to useful artist, album and release information.

That matters because a large personal collection is rarely pristine. Tags can be incomplete. Filenames can be inconsistent. CDs and vinyl can enter the library with very little context. Citrus should still be able to work out what the music is and make that knowledge useful.

01

Identify

Audio fingerprinting gives Citrus another way to recognise a track when filenames or metadata are not enough.

02

Understand

Track identity can be connected to artists, releases and the wider catalogue rather than treated as an isolated file.

03

Organise

That understanding feeds cleaner metadata, smarter library tools and better ways to navigate a large collection.

04

Discover

Citrus can use what is already in the library to surface missing albums, related music and releases worth paying attention to.

THE COMPANY

Independent software, built around a very practical idea.

Citrus is being developed as a founder-led independent software company. It began with a straightforward frustration: a carefully built music collection should not feel less convenient than rented access to somebody else's catalogue.

That has shaped the product from the beginning. Citrus is not being designed to manufacture artificial limitations between ordinary listeners and working professionals. The free product is meant to make ownership useful. Pro earns its place by adding genuinely professional workflows. Master solves a specific creative job quickly. Mobile extends the library instead of trying to become another monthly streaming service.

The company is starting from the UK with a Nordic outlook, building the product in close contact with the kinds of people it is for: collectors, DJs and people who still care where their music lives. The ambition is large; the company story does not need to pretend to be.
