This Cookie Policy explains how Aurandia Limited (“Citrus”, “we”, “our” or “us”) uses cookies and similar technologies on Citrus-operated websites, including citruslibrary.app.

It should be read together with the Citrus Privacy Policy, which explains more generally how Citrus collects, uses, stores and protects personal information.

For the purposes of this policy, the operator of the Citrus website is:

Aurandia Limited 45 Albemarle Street, London W1S 4JL, United Kingdom

Email: legal@citruslibrary.app Website: citruslibrary.app

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small pieces of information stored on your computer, phone, tablet or other device when you access a website.

Cookies can allow a website to recognise a device, maintain a session, remember a preference, authenticate a user, provide requested functionality or obtain information about how a website is being used.

Some cookies exist only while your browser is open. These are commonly called session cookies.

Other cookies remain on a device for a specified period or until they are removed. These are commonly called persistent cookies.

Cookies may also be:

  • first-party cookies, which are set by Citrus or on behalf of Citrus through a Citrus-operated website; or
  • third-party cookies, which are set or accessed by another organisation providing functionality or services through the website.

2. Similar technologies

This policy applies not only to conventional browser cookies but also to technologies that store information on, or access information from, a user's device.

Depending on the Citrus website and the functionality being used, these technologies may include:

  • browser local storage;
  • session storage;
  • authentication tokens;
  • scripts and tags;
  • pixels;
  • similar browser-storage mechanisms; and
  • other technologies performing functions comparable to cookies.

References to “cookies” in this policy should therefore generally be understood to include these similar technologies where appropriate.

3. How Citrus uses cookies

Citrus aims to use only the cookies and similar technologies reasonably necessary to operate its websites and provide requested functionality.

Depending on the website and services enabled, Citrus may use the following categories.

3.1 Strictly necessary cookies

Strictly necessary cookies are used where they are required for the operation, security or requested functionality of a Citrus website.

They may be used for purposes including:

  • maintaining a secure website session;
  • authenticating a Citrus account;
  • protecting accounts and website services against unauthorised access;
  • detecting or preventing fraud or abuse;
  • maintaining security protections;
  • processing navigation between pages;
  • balancing website traffic or maintaining reliable website delivery;
  • remembering information necessary to complete a transaction or other action requested by the user;
  • remembering cookie or privacy choices; and
  • providing functionality specifically requested by the user.

Where applicable law permits these technologies to be used without consent because they are strictly necessary to provide the service requested by the user, Citrus may use them without requesting prior consent.

Disabling strictly necessary technologies may prevent parts of the Citrus website from functioning correctly.

3.2 Functional and preference technologies

Citrus may use technologies that remember choices made by a visitor or enable particular website functionality.

These may include preferences relating to:

  • website configuration;
  • interface choices;
  • language or regional settings;
  • previously selected options;
  • accessibility settings; or
  • other website functionality requested by the visitor.

Some functional technologies may qualify for an exemption from consent under applicable law. Where they do not, Citrus will request any consent legally required before using them.

3.3 Analytics and statistical technologies

Citrus may use limited analytics or statistical technologies to understand how its websites are being used.

Information collected for these purposes may include matters such as:

  • numbers of visits;
  • pages or sections viewed;
  • approximate duration of visits;
  • browser type;
  • device type;
  • operating system;
  • general navigation through the website;
  • page-loading or performance information;
  • referring pages or sources; and
  • aggregated interactions with website features.

Citrus may use this information to understand general website usage, identify technical problems, improve website performance and determine which areas of the website are useful to visitors.

Where applicable law permits limited statistical technologies to be used without consent, Citrus may rely on that exception only where the applicable requirements are satisfied.

For example, where an applicable statistical-purpose exception requires information to be used solely to produce aggregate statistics for the improvement of the Citrus website or service, Citrus will not rely on that exception to use the same information for individual profiling, behavioural advertising or unrelated purposes.

Where an applicable exception requires users to be given a means of objecting, Citrus will provide the required control.

Where consent is legally required for analytics or statistical technologies, those technologies will not be used until the required consent has been obtained.

3.4 Advertising and marketing technologies

If Citrus uses cookies, pixels or similar technologies for behavioural advertising, remarketing, advertising profiling, cross-service tracking or another purpose requiring consent, those technologies will not be activated before the required consent has been obtained.

Citrus will provide information about the relevant purpose and any third party involved before requesting such consent.

A visitor's decision not to consent to advertising or marketing technologies will not prevent the use of strictly necessary website functionality.

4. Cookie consent and your choices

Where consent is required, Citrus will provide an appropriate means for visitors to accept or reject the relevant categories of cookies or similar technologies.

Non-essential technologies requiring consent will not be activated merely because a visitor continues browsing the website.

Consent must result from an appropriate positive choice.

Where different non-essential purposes are used, Citrus may provide separate choices so that visitors are not required to accept unrelated categories of technology together.

Rejecting non-essential cookies should not prevent access to ordinary website content merely because the user declined tracking or analytics technologies, although particular optional functionality may be unavailable where the technology is genuinely required to provide that functionality.

5. Changing or withdrawing your choices

Where Citrus relies on consent, you may withdraw that consent.

Where a Citrus website provides a Cookie Settings, Privacy Settings or similar control, you may use that control to review or change your choices.

Withdrawing consent will prevent the relevant technologies from being used in the future but does not make earlier processing unlawful where valid consent existed at the time.

Some information already stored on your device may remain until the relevant cookie expires or is removed through your browser or device settings.

6. Cookie preference records

Citrus may store a cookie or similar record containing your cookie choices.

This is necessary so that the website can remember, for example, that you rejected optional cookies instead of repeatedly asking you to make the same choice on every page.

A preference record may contain information such as:

  • whether a cookie notice has been displayed;
  • which categories were accepted or rejected;
  • when a preference was recorded; or
  • a version identifier for the applicable cookie choices.

Such a record is used to respect and administer your privacy choices rather than for behavioural advertising.

7. Third-party technologies

Some Citrus website functionality may be provided using external service providers.

Depending on the services enabled, third parties may assist Citrus with matters such as:

  • website hosting;
  • infrastructure;
  • security;
  • authentication;
  • payment processing;
  • fraud prevention;
  • technical diagnostics;
  • analytics; or
  • other website functionality.

Where a third party stores information on, or accesses information from, your device, Citrus will provide the information required by applicable law concerning that provider and the relevant purpose.

Where consent is required for a third-party technology, Citrus will not intentionally activate that technology before the required consent has been obtained.

Third-party services may also process information under their own privacy policies and legal obligations.

For example, purchases of Citrus Pro made through our checkout are sold by Paddle as Merchant of Record and authorised reseller. When you open the Citrus checkout, payment functionality provided by Paddle is loaded from Paddle’s systems. Paddle may store information on, or access information from, your device (for example to operate the checkout securely, process your payment and prevent fraud) in accordance with Paddle’s Privacy Notice, its own cookie practices and applicable law. Paddle determines its own purposes for that processing. Citrus does not require or store your complete payment-card details.

Further information about payments and Paddle’s role is provided in section 11 of the Citrus Privacy Policy.

8. Server logs and information that is not necessarily stored as a cookie

Not all technical information received when you visit a website is obtained through cookies.

Citrus systems, hosting providers or security infrastructure may automatically receive ordinary network and server information when your browser requests a Citrus website or resource.

This may include:

  • IP address;
  • browser and device information;
  • requested pages or resources;
  • dates and times of requests;
  • diagnostic information;
  • security information; and
  • network or server logs.

Citrus may use this information to deliver the website, maintain security, prevent abuse, investigate faults and understand the operation of its services.

The collection of ordinary server or network information should therefore not be interpreted as meaning that Citrus has necessarily stored a tracking cookie on your device.

Further information about Citrus's processing of this information is provided in the Citrus Privacy Policy.

Current first-party analytics: AurandiaWebStats uses aurandia_webstats_consent_v1 in browser local storage to remember your Accept/Reject choice. Only after you accept may the website also use temporary session storage (aurandia_webstats_tab_citruslibrary) and send page views, device/operating-system categories, activity duration and selected website interactions to our AurandiaWebStats API. You can withdraw permission at any time using “Cookie settings” in the footer. Rejecting optional analytics does not disable the normal network requests and security records generated by CloudFront or other hosting and security systems; approximate country information may be inferred from infrastructure request data rather than from browser tracking. We do not sell these analytics to advertising companies or data brokers.

9. How long cookies remain on your device

The duration of a cookie depends on its purpose.

Some cookies are session cookies and expire when the relevant browser session ends.

Persistent cookies may remain for a specified period so that a website can, for example, remember a security state, authentication state or privacy preference between visits.

Citrus will not intentionally retain cookies or similar device information for longer than reasonably necessary for their relevant purpose.

Where required by applicable law, Citrus will provide information identifying the duration of individual cookies or technologies through the website's cookie information or cookie-management interface.

10. Current cookie information

Because the cookies and technologies required by a website may change as website features are introduced, removed or replaced, Citrus may maintain a current cookie register or cookie-management interface alongside this policy.

Where applicable, that information will identify matters such as:

  • the name of the cookie or technology;
  • the organisation providing it;
  • whether it is first-party or third-party;
  • its purpose;
  • its category; and
  • its duration.

The current technical cookie information displayed by the Citrus website should be read together with this Cookie Policy.

Citrus will update its disclosures where new technologies materially change the way information is stored on or accessed from a visitor's device.

11. Browser controls

Most web browsers provide controls allowing you to inspect, delete or restrict cookies.

Depending on your browser, you may be able to:

  • delete existing cookies;
  • prevent cookies from being stored;
  • block third-party cookies;
  • remove cookies when the browser closes;
  • view cookies associated with a particular website; or
  • change permissions for local storage and related technologies.

Blocking all cookies may interfere with website functionality, particularly where cookies are required for authentication, security or another service requested by you.

Browser controls are separate from the consent controls provided directly by Citrus.

12. Personal data and cookies

Some information collected using cookies or similar technologies may constitute personal data, particularly where it can be associated with an identifiable person, account, device or online identifier.

Where this occurs, Citrus will process that information in accordance with applicable data-protection law and the Citrus Privacy Policy.

The Privacy Policy contains further information concerning:

  • the purposes for which Citrus processes personal data;
  • lawful bases for processing;
  • service providers;
  • international transfers;
  • information security;
  • data retention;
  • your data-protection rights; and
  • how to contact Citrus about a privacy request.

13. Children

Citrus recognises that additional privacy protections may apply where online services are likely to be accessed by children.

Citrus will not rely on a child's passive use of a website as consent to non-essential cookies or tracking technologies where valid consent is legally required.

Where applicable law imposes additional requirements concerning children's information or consent, Citrus will apply those requirements to the relevant service.

14. Changes to this Cookie Policy

Citrus may amend this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect:

  • changes to Citrus websites or online services;
  • changes in the cookies or similar technologies we use;
  • changes in our service providers;
  • technical or security changes;
  • changes in applicable law or regulatory guidance; or
  • improvements to our privacy practices.

The current version will be published on the Citrus website.

The date at the beginning of this policy indicates when it was last updated.

Where a change requires new consent under applicable law, Citrus will request that consent before relying on it.

A change to this Cookie Policy does not retrospectively create consent where consent is legally required.
